Pick and place your new kitchen team with confidence.

Alongside space and budget, where to place kitchen appliances – and which appliance options you choose – depends a lot on your cooking style and personal preferences. Get practical considerations and tips for each appliance category from the experts at Bosch.

Which hob type is right for me?

  • Do you often need a flexible cooking space? If so, an induction hob or electric hob might be your best bet.
  • Do you like to whip up meals quickly (induction) or do you tend to simmer and savour (gas)?
  • Which kinds of cookware do you prefer? For favourite-pot compatibility, gas is your best option.
  • Is easy cleaning important? If so, look for cooktops with continuous surfaces and/or dishwasher-proof pan supports.

When considering different hobs for your new kitchen, start with your cooking habits and preferences. Find out answers to questions like what makes induction better, why to choose a gas hob and which hobs are easiest to clean in the gallery below.

Induction hobs.

Speed, safety, comfort, flexibility: Bosch induction hobs enable ultra-quick boiling and offer features like PerfectCook and PerfectFry to make cooking easier.

Why to choose induction:

  • Extra safe thanks to a fast-cooling surface.
  • Combine 2 cooking zones to fit large pans with Bosch FlexInduction® technology.

Keep in mind that not all pots and pans are induction-compatible.

Gas hobs.

Tradition and style: gas hobs let you use diverse cooking techniques like charring, making them an excellent choice for gourmets.

Benefits of gas hobs:

  • Multiple burners: 4-burner or even 5-burner gas hobs.
  • Stylish finishes: regular or black stainless steel or black tempered glass.
  • Continuous grates and dishwasher-proof pan supports can simplify your post-meal clean-up.

Electric hobs.

Versatile and easy to use: electric hobs are the perfect all-rounders.

  • Intuitive TouchControl panel for perfect control.
  • Dual ring burners to heat up a wide variety of pots and pans.
  • Tough, easy-to-clean surfaces.

Domino hobs.

Maximum flexibility: with domino hobs you can mix and match one- and two-burner induction, gas, or electric hobs with sleek, easy-to-clean surfaces to create your perfect cooking combo.

Mixed hobs.

The best of all worlds: mixed hobs let you create a bespoke combination of gas burners and a ceramic glass or induction cooktop. Char or boil as you please. Dishwasher-proof pan supports simplify clean-up.

Venting hobs.

All-in-one performance: venting hobs have a ventilation module built into an induction hob.

Why choose venting hobs:

  • Highly effective removal of steam and odours.
  • Flexible induction workspace.
  • Full control of the hob and hood at your fingertips.
Where should I put my kitchen hob?

Your hob is one of the main work spaces in your kitchen. Choose a location where you can connect it properly (especially if it's a gas hob) and ensure proper ventilation.

Which hob size do I need?

Need a dimension check? Standard hobs measure 60 cm in width. Domino hobs are 30 cm and larger sized hobs can be 70, 80 or 90 cm wide.

What should I consider when installing my hob?

Ensure a proper ventilation channel within your cabinetry. To protect drawer contents, add an intermediate horizontal panel beneath your hob for insulation.

How much space do I need around my hob?

Leave enough space to place cooking utensils, small cutting boards, etc. We suggest at least 60 cm from the end of a unit and 30 cm from a tall unit.

Can I put a hob next to a sink?

For safety reasons, it's best to maintain a minimum distance of 60 cm between your hob and sink.

Which cooker hood do I need?

  • Ideally, an effective cooker hood should be able to replace the air in your kitchen ten times per hour.
  • Extractor hoods work by either extracting or recirculating air. Recirculation filters air while extraction removes it – and is technically a more complex undertaking.
  • Turn down the volume: especially for open kitchens, options like low-noise drives give you and your guests more peace of mind.

While you sauté and simmer, cooker hoods clean the air in your kitchen to keep your home cool and fresh. Let our checklist and gallery of hood types help you select the right cooker hood for your needs.

Island hoods.

Quiet, stylish, powerful: developed for kitchen islands, our island hoods come in a classic stainless steel chimney design.

  • Extra quiet for maximal extractor performance with minimal noise – perfect for open kitchens.
  • Hidden screws and cables, along with rounded edges, make cleaning easy.

Wall-mounted hoods.

Compact and versatile: if your hob is installed next to a wall, with or without overhead cabinetry, wall-mounted hoods are a good option.

  • Efficient extraction in a modern, compact design.
  • Available in a chimney style, box design, or flat design.
  • Different sizes and materials – from stainless steel to black printed glass.

Telescopic hoods.

Elegant and bright: telescopic cooker hoods offer an elegant option that is partially integrated into the wall units of your kitchen. Simply pull out the flat section to expand the extraction surface and fold it back neatly after cooking. Powerful extraction plus extra illumination for your hob.

Canopy hoods.

Barely there: in canopy cooker hoods, the fan modules are fully integrated into your kitchen unit for an extremely inconspicuous look. Canopy hoods give you more design freedom when planning your kitchen.

Built-under hoods.

Made for small spaces: built-under cooker hoods help you save space by mounting the hood beneath your upper cabinet or on the wall. Powerful extraction and sleek stainless steel ensure optimum ventilation and easy cleaning.

Domino ventilation module.

Clean air on the spot: flexible Bosch Domino ventilation modules let you mix and match to create a custom cooking surface. Choose from gas, electric or induction hobs – and then add integrated ventilation modules to capture steam and cooking odours right at the source.

Integrated cooker hoods.

Integrated cooker hoods tuck away neatly when not in use. These powerful built-in cooker hoods are also very quiet and provide additional lighting in your cooking area.

Ceiling cooker hoods.

Ceiling mounted hoods don't interfere with the design of your kitchen and are perfect for kitchens with island cooking units or where clean sightlines are a desirable design feature.

How far does a range hood vent have to be from a window?

If you choose a vented option (extraction), consider installation next to a window to reduce the length of ducting pipe.

What is the best height for a cooker hood?

For optimum performance, instal your hood at a minimum height from your hob. The best cooktop to hood distance for gas hobs: 86 cm; for induction/radiant: 70 to 75 cm.

What size extractor hood do I need?

Calculate your minimum extraction rate with the formula: Kitchen volume x 10 = minimum extraction rate.

Which oven do I need?

  • Looking to steam, stew, fast-cook, roast or grill on a regular basis? Consider your favourite cooking methods when choosing your oven.
  • How big is your household? For smaller households, compact ovens are suitable for serving up smaller portions.
  • Want to save time cleaning? Low-cleaning options like catalytic coatings minimise your effort while pyroltic self-cleaning programmes do the work for you.
  • Need extra convenience? Consider options like Bosch PerfectBake and PerfectRoast for perfect baking and roasting results – automatically.
  • Ever wish you could heat up the oven on your way home? Consider one of our Wi-Fi-enabled ovens with Home Connect.

Bosch built-in ovens provide a seamless fit in cabinetry for a beautiful, tidy look. And more flexibility in designing your kitchen. Discover the options in our gallery.

Built-in ovens.

Greater flexibility: installing built-in ovens separately, for example as twin ovens at eye level, lets you create multiple culinary zones, so more people can easily cook in the same space – or simply mingle next to your rising soufflé.

Built-in cookers

Classic and efficient: stacking your oven below your hob lets you consolidate your cooking activities in a small space.

  • Pro tip: purchasing these two appliances as a set can be an economical solution.

Built-in compact ovens.

Tiny but powerful: Bosch compact ovens are just 45 cm high. If you are planning a kitchen in close quarters, our built-in compact ovens not only offer maximum flexibility in planning your small kitchen, but provide all the performance of a full-size oven.

Where should an oven or cooker be placed?

Instal them at eye level for greater convenience as you check on your roast or handle trays – or choose a cooker (oven with hob) or a compact oven solution for small spaces.

What size oven do I need?

Need an oven for a small space? If you can't fit a standard oven (60 cm), choose a compact oven model (just 45 cm).

Can I put an oven next to a fridge?

It's best not to expose your fridge to a heat source like a cooker or radiator – or to direct sunlight. If it cannot be avoided, try to minimise heat transfer using a suitable insulation plate or maintain a distance of at least of 30mm from electric or gas cookers.

Which fridge-freezer combo do I need?

  • Which items will you be accessing more frequently? Select a model where you can arrange them at eye level for greater ease.
  • Looking for an energy-efficient fridge? Choose a higher energy efficiency rating to help you save on costs down the road.
  • Space-saving tip: double-door fridges will give you more space in front of the fridge than a single door – a smart choice for when your fridge is next to an island.

Bosch fridges come in a variety of styles, sizes and finishes. Find out what to look for when buying a fridge and see the options in the gallery below.

Built-in fridges.

Bosch built-in fridges create a flush fit with your cabinetry. Choose a built-in option for a seamless look, no matter your kitchen style.

Fridges without freezer section.

If you already have a freezer, choosing a fridge without a freezer section can save you up to 30% on energy. As with all fridges, choose the interior design and details that are the best fit for your daily routines.

Fridge-freezers with freezer at bottom.

Bottom freezer models, as well as French door and cross door models, place the freezer at the bottom, giving you easier access to your high-traffic fridge for everyday convenience.

Fridge-freezers with freezer at top.

The perfect solution for when you use the freezer fairly often. The freezer section is placed conveniently at eye level for easy access without unnecessary strain on your back.

How much space do I need around my fridge?

Freestanding fridges with PerfectFit can be placed flush into your niche. No space allowance is required – saving you valuable centimetres. In all other cases, allow a gap of at least 50 mm all around for proper cooling. Interested in fridge-freezers for small kitchens? Check out tips here.

For built-in fridges, make sure that air vents are built into your cabinets.

Can you put a fridge next to a cooker or oven?

It's best not to expose your fridge to a heat source like a cooker or radiator – or to direct sunlight. If it cannot be avoided, try to minimise heat transfer using a suitable insulation plate or maintain a distance of at least of 30 mm from electric or gas cookers.

Can I put a fridge next to a washing machine?

Yes, as long as you maintain a gap of at least 50mm between the two appliances if installed side by side.

Which dishwasher do I need?

  • If space is tight, go for a slimline model, if you prefer seamless kitchen aesthetics, choose a built-in or panel-ready model.
  • Consider functions that will make your life easier: hygiene programmes for young families or sparkling wine glasses after your next dinner party.
  • Dishwashers and decibels are often a topic. If yours will be in an open space or next to a bedroom, consider a lower noise rating.

Finding the perfect dishwasher for your kitchen also hinges heavily on your needs. We've compiled a checklist of considerations to help you get started.

Freestanding dishwashers.

Our freestanding dishwashers require no cabinet space and give you more positioning options. The standard (60 cm) version offers plenty of loading space and flexibility for your dishes to handle any occasion.

Built-in dishwashers.

Our 60 cm wide built-in dishwashers fit into standard spaces in your kitchen. No matter whether you choose a top or front control panel, you'll always get sparkling results and best energy efficiency.

Where should I place my dishwasher?

When planning where to place your dishwasher, always take into account the position of your electrical and water connections.

Can I put a dishwasher in a cupboard?

When installing a built-in dishwasher, leave a gap of 5-10 mm between the top of the dishwasher and the bottom of the worktop to account for uneven floors and cabinetry. Adjust the height of the feet if necessary and ensure that your cabinet drawers do not obstruct the opening and closing of the dishwasher door panel.

What side of the sink should my dishwasher be on?

The electrical outlet, water supply and drainage hoses should be placed on either the left or right side of the dishwasher. Make sure that the electrical cable and hoses measure at least 60 cm so that the dishwasher can be pulled out from the cabinet for maintenance without having to disconnect the hoses and power cables. Disconnect the power and water supply before any maintenance work.

Built-in coffee machines.

The perfect brew and space-saving, contemporary design.

Our fully automatic built-in coffee machines let you be a barista in your own home. Make frothy cappuccino and rich espresso at the push of a button – and free up precious counter space in your kitchen.

How can I set up the perfect laundry corner in my kitchen?

  • Choose whether you want stack your washer and dryer or create a side-by-side combo.
  • Or, if space is very limited, consider a washer dryer – one machine that does it all!
  • For most kitchen laundry corners, front-loading machines will be more practical than top-loaders.

When space is tight, bundling your resources and creating a laundry corner in your kitchen makes perfect sense. Bosch washers and dryers offer practical features to make it possible.

Front loading washing machines.

Compared to top loaders, our front loader washers give you easy access to your clothes in a kitchen, where your laundry care appliances will most likely be integrated on a wall next to cabinets.

Condenser tumble dryers.

With Bosch condenser dryers, moisture that is removed from your clothing during the drying process collects in a tray that you empty periodically. No need for elaborate venting, simply plug and dry.

Heat pump dryers.

Bosch heat pump dryers conserve and re-use heat, making them very economical. They are the ideal choice for people with allergies or sensitive skin.

Washer dryers.

Bosch washer dryers do the job of two machines in one. Wash and dry small loads in just 60 minutes – and enjoy energy-efficient, silent operation.
