Optimised modular container housing
Although the idea of repurposing freight containers for temporary housing and micro-living is not recent, new life has been breathed into the concept by Containerwerk. With recycled freight containers at the heart of the project, container architecture is now at its most sustainable, modern and liveable – and kitchens fitted with Bosch home appliances exemplify how high-end container living can be.
Take a look inside
There is a multitude of options to turn a module into the ideal living space, from pre-planned to completely customised designs. It is only the base of the modules that is fixed at 12 x 2.20 metres, but several units can also be combined to make one living space at the size desired. The modules can also be outfitted with a range of kitchen appliances, including Bosch home appliances, which integrate perfectly into the size and shape of the space.
A hit at Eurocucina 2018
At Eurocucina, Milan's international design and kitchen fair from April 17 to 22, 2018, Bosch Home Appliances, in cooperation with Containerwerk, presented this concept. On display were two exciting options: a single-room module for people, such as students, who live solo and a luxury double container version – both equipped with Bosch home appliances.
Answering modern housing needs
With this project, Containerwerk is addressing the shortage of affordable living space, and the increase in waste and energy consumption. As a result, construction of the living modules is energy-efficient due to short building times, and each freight container is repurposed and insulated with 100% recyclable materials. And thanks to industrial production, cost-effective living is made possible.
