Can I desinfect my homemade mask in the washer or oven?
For DIY face masks made of regular cloth, we only recommend washing at temperatures of 60°C or higher. Select a washing programme such as Cotton 90°C, AllergyPlus 60°C, or Hygiene 60°C, available on models. These programmes maintain high temperatures for extended periods.
Always use the above programmes in combination with a bleach-containing heavy-duty detergent to achieve an anti-bacterial and virus-reducing effect.
We strongly advise against sanitising face coverings of any kind by heating them in household appliances such as ovens or microwaves.
We expressly point out these recommendations cannot guarantee the complete desinfection of your mask.
